Family policies
What families ask us before a first summer.
Photos of your child
We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.
What to wear and bring
Pack for a mix of weather in a duffel bag, with your camper's first name inside every item. Laundry goes out once a week on two-week sessions, and valuables stay home.
Drop-off and pickup
Families arrive on Sunday afternoon at the lodge gate, where a counselor meets you and the nurse takes any medicine. Visiting day is the middle Sunday of a two-week session, and pickup is Friday afternoon. We release a camper only to an adult on your list, and we ask for ID.
When to keep your child home
A camper who feels ill goes to the health center, where the nurse looks after them and we call you. Please keep a camper with a fever at home until they have been well for a full day.
Meals, snacks and allergies
Three meals and an afternoon snack are served family-style in the dining hall, with a vegetarian choice at every meal. Tell us about food allergies when you register, and we ask what we need privately.
At the lake
Swim periods run at the dock with a lifeguard on the deck and counselors in the water. Every camper takes a swim test on the first day, and every camper in a boat wears a life jacket.
Screens and phones
Phones, tablets, watches and cameras stay home. Campers write letters and get mail, and the office phone is there if you need to reach us. A camper who is missing home can talk to a counselor or the director, and we call you when we think it would help.
Leaving the program
If your plans change, tell us as early as you can, so we can offer the place to a family on the waitlist.
